Content: A shield/portal, or portal/shield?
Writing: Strong use of sensory elements make the shields discovery a minor encounter.
Art/design: Focal central shield illustration in neon pink with yellow sigils 
Usability: Use as a plot point or unpleasant surprise. 

Moaning Bulwark

Concept: “This shield licks its’ lips and breathes heavily.”
Content: A balefully sensuous moaning shield.
Writing: Simply stunning. No really. That’s what it does.
Art/design: Definitely conveys moaning.
Usability: Make it (moan) don’t break it.
